Hi, I’m Julia Belikova, the creator of Cineliaaaa ~ a creative travel diary where I document my adventures through film photography.

 

I'm a Sydney local gal and avid wanderer of the world, always curious about places beyond what I know, and deeply aware of the privilege it is to be able to explore them.  At the start of 2024, I was gifted a simple point-and-shoot camera, just in time for an eight-month solo journey across Europe and the UK. What began as a way to capture memories quickly turned into something much deeper. My film camera became my constant companion as I left my full-time job in Sydney behind and embraced slow travel, volunteering, and immersing myself in new cultures. Along the way, I fell in love with the magic of film, the anticipation, imperfections, and nostalgia it holds.

 

My work is inspired by both natural wonders and the everyday. I'm drawn to natural landscapes just as I am to built environments, to water meeting land, to textured rocks, to light glimmering on surfaces, to soft sunsets, and to moments that feel fleeting yet grounding at the same time.  Colour excites me and plays a big role in my work, which is why my photographs are typically vibrant and expressive, with black and white film woven in as a softer, more reflective memory. I find joy in romanticising daily life and discovering beauty in the smallest details.

 

Cineliaaaa is slowly becoming more than a diary. I dream of turning these photographic memories into a collection of postcards, small prints, art and stories, creating tangible pieces that can be held, shared and revisited over time. With hopes of continuing to capture more stories on film, I look forward to exploring and documenting parts of the world I've yet to discover.
